Life as we know it

I feel like a giant goose writing a blog to no one in particular.

But I figure one day the algorithm will do its thing, someone will stumble across one of my posts, ask ChatGPT for something to read, and it’ll say, “Here’s a blog that might make your heart smile.” A girl can dream, right?

Anyway…

Consistency has never been my strongest personality trait. Mostly because I’m always searching for the right thing to say or the perfect formula.

Turns out, there isn’t one.

My scientifically wired, structured brain desperately wants a plan, while the creative side of me just wants to run barefoot through a meadow, write all day, and breathe in that fresh morning air—or better yet, those quiet evenings when the trees sway and the leaves whisper in the breeze.

Can I get an amen?

Oh… there she goes again.

I’m known for wandering off on tangents. Thankfully, I have friends who happily come along for the ride, so we can bounce from one thought to the next without either of us remembering where we started.

Actually… maybe that’s why consistency is hard for me.

I crave structure and routine, but I also need someone to gently tap me on the shoulder and say, “Hey… remember that thing you said you were going to do?”

My brain and my heart have had a complicated relationship over the years. Sometimes they’re beautifully in sync. Other times… not so much.

So, what does life look like these days?

I’m now living on Brisbane’s south side (or Brisvegas, if you’re a local), and my daughter is officially a teenager.

If you’ve raised- or are raising a 14-year-old girl, you probably already know the adventure she and I are on. Add today’s world into the mix and… wow.

She’s also one of the most beautiful humans I know and HILARIOUS to boot… she gets it from her mamma!

Yes, I’m completely biased.

One of the unexpected gifts in this season has been my work. I’m not much of an artist, but I love painting and drawing as a way to regulate, unwind, and simply be present. The fact that I get to do some of that as part of my job feels like a little gift from God. See below, one of my recent creations.

The biggest change in my life, though, happened at Christmas in 2024.

After years of chasing self-help, personal development, and what I now see as the New Age’s focus on self, or the ode to self. I gave my life to Jesus.

It was, without question, the best decision I’ve ever made.

That doesn’t mean life suddenly became easy. Quite the opposite.

There has been refining, surrender, healing, and seasons I’d never choose to repeat – not wish on my worst enemy. But I wouldn’t trade any of it because of who God has been shaping me into.

If you’ve walked away from New Age spirituality and are finding the journey confusing, lonely, or overwhelming, I want you to know you’re not alone. Feel free to reach out. I’d genuinely love to encourage you if I can. There are many of us out there and support is CRUICIAL.

My relationship with Jesus is deeply personal, and not something I will speak about too much. But I happily give Him all the glory for the transformation He’s brought to my life.

Beginning a new career.

The past couple of years have been full.

A move.

My daughter starting high school.

Losing a job – due to the refinement and being humbled in many many ways.

New friendships.

A new home.

In the middle of all of that, writing, cooking meals I loved, and curling up with a good book quietly disappeared.

But lately…

They’re finding their way back.

I know God led me into a hidden wilderness season where He could gently reshape my heart. In many ways, I’m still there, but I can also see Him bringing me into something new.

I’m slowly becoming a more rooted, restored, and renewed version of the woman He created me to be.

And maybe this little corner of the internet will simply be where I write about that journey.

If you’re here, welcome.

I’m really glad you stopped by.

Anywho – that’s it from me for now. Until my next one.

Bless you xx
